Though we may not be steadfast watchers of Jimmy Fallon’s late night talkshow, we have to give the man credit for once again bringing the world of gaming into his decidedly non-gaming television show. While Robin Williams guested on Fallon’s show this week, he asked the hairy-handed comedian about his gaming habits – some of which we’ve covered in the past – and found out that not only does the man play his fair share of Call of Duty, but he also named his daughter ‘Zelda’ after … well, the Princess Zelda.

‘My daughter is named after a video game … Zelda, Princess Zelda. I don’t call her Princess Zelda … only occasionally … but she’s named after Zelda.’ So forget about your LaBeoufs and your Dushkus – Robin Williams is holding it down hardcore and old-school for all of Hollywood.

Kan vi inte bara bränna dem på bål som vi brukar göra med människor som ligger med sina släktingar (Tredje Moseboken 20:14)?”

H. B. Halicki was a used car salesman who wanted to make a movie. With a little money, one big idea, and a 1971 Mustang Mach 1, he made Gone in 60 Seconds. And in that particular way that movies, especially ’70s movies, can be, it wasn’t all that good, but it was awesome. Fast forward to Michael Bay’s remake in 2000, and the Mach 1 was replaced by a 1967 Shelby GT500. When we got a call offering us the actual car from that movie for the weekend, we felt obliged to say yes… and then drive it like we stole it. The verdict: Eleanor is the hottest piece of car we’ve spent a weekend with in quite some time.

Adding himself to the short list of things we associate with Sweden other than Volvo, Ikea, and delicious meatballs, Stockholm’s Pato Pooh recently released a music video for his song ‘Follow Me.’ It features a regular who’s who of 8- and 16-bit era gaming in the process, referencing everything from Mega Man‘s opening to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. He even kills off that snickering jerk dog from Duck Hunt we all love to hate. Who’s laughing now, dog? Who’s laughing now?!

Volkswagen Polo Commercial – click above image to watch the video

A few months ago, we found ourselves aimlessly and fortuitously wandering around the nether regions of a Los Angeles based press fleet’s deep storage unit. Total ‘no cameras’ zone. We stumbled in deeper and deeper, past the A8s used for Transporter 3, past the bright pink Mattel Barbie VW Routan and matching pink Barbie New Beetle Convertible with a motorized make-up valise that emerges from the trunk. Suddenly, lo and behold, there’s a red 2009 Volkswagen Polo in all its Euro-only glory. Can we drive it? No. Please? No. Come on, man – just a quick drive? No, also – no.

So why is a Volkswagen Polo socked away in the very back of a warehouse? For a commercial, man. And it’s actually a pretty nifty commercial, reminiscent of the town square scenes in Back to the Future. They even use the same Universal Studios back lot to film the new Polo spot. However, instead Marty McFly leading Biff and the baddies into the back of a manure truck, the commercial transitions to a Grease-like drag race between the Polo and some sort of chopped ’50s zeitgeist flame job convertible – we’ll go with custom Buick Roadmaster (or… 1953 Packard). Anyhow, we’re not going to spoil the ending, beyond letting you know that the Polo wins. Make the jump to watch the video. UPDATE: ha ha ha.

This is exactly the kind of thing we love to see here at TUAW (and thanks for sending it along, Danny) — Glyph of the Twisted project got a job offer from Apple last week, and over on his blog, he posts a set of unboxing pics.

Which might sound silly (an unboxing for a new hire packet?), but when you’re talking about Apple, it’s worth it. It turns out they put nearly as much thought into the design of their paperwork as they do into the rest of their projects. From the iconic folder to the way it’s organized, designed, and laid out, getting a job offer from Apple isn’t just super exciting, it’s apparently a thing of beauty.

To tell the truth, we half expected him to turn the folder over and see the words ‘Designed by Apple in California.’ Good luck to Glyph with his job, and it warms our hearts here as Apple fans at TUAW to see that something the company never expected to be shown to the public was assembled with such care and thought.

This, friends, is how one rolls. Behold the Holland & Holland Range Rover by Overfinch, a joint effort between the gunmaker, Land Rovers bespokery and, well, Bacchus. One hundred tweed-wearing pheasant slayers will have the opportunity to drive this sybaritic super sled to the hunting grounds. Frankly, one wonders why anyone would ever bother leaving the SUV. This ultimate Range Rover is outfitted with a gorgeous, custom-integrated gun cabinet, a cavernous backseat console/fridge, and a liquor cabinet nicer than anything youd find in Don Drapers office. Our favorite feature? Well, the liquor itself is ‘self-replenishing,’ meaning that for the first year of ownership, Holland & Holland Rangie owners will have the vehicles booze supply refilled automatically. Think of it like bottled water home delivery, only with single-malt scotch, small-batch gin, and other fine adult refreshments.

Naturally, all the interior trim is customized to match the cabinetry, which, in turn, can be made to match the customers Holland & Holland firearms. The paint colors offered are exclusive to this model, of course, and the exterior is dolled up with unique trim and wheels as well. Aspiring Limey ballers take note — you can even swap the standard dubs with off-road rubber for a pavement-only 22′ wheel/tire package as well. The whole thing is deliciously ostentatious and wonderful. Power comes from either the blown 503-horse gasoline V8 or the diesel TDV8. It should come as zero surprise that this sort of exclusivity carries a dear price, so bring money. The H&H Range Rover will set you back at least £120K. Well, maybe featuring Jill is not quite accurate — ‘it’s gonna be, uh, at least, somewhat involving Jill Valentine,’ confirms voice of Jill, Patricia Ja Lee, fresh from recording new voice and perhaps mocap work for Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut. That’s right: Resident Evil 5: Director’s Cut. It seems that P.J. Lee has also inadvertently announced a new, more twisting, more turning version of RE5 in the works.
